ZOM | ZIM Departmental Library

Due to the 14th Bavarian Infection Protection Measures Ordinance and the announcement of 21.09.2021 "Corona Pandemic: Framework Concept for Universities" (BayMBl. 2021 No. 669), the following conditions of use apply at Würzburg University Library:

Access to the UB (Main library and departmental libraries) is only possible for those who have been fully vaccinated, have recovered or have tested negative if the 7-day incidence is above 35. Please show appropriate proof at the entrance without being asked.

As negative test proof, you can present the result of a PCR test (max. 48 hours old) or PoC antigen test (max. 24 hours old) or alternatively your valid pupil ID.

Employees of the University of Würzburg can present their personal JMU Card instead of 3G proof.

At the University Library of Würzburg it is compulsory to wear a medical face mask. The mask may be removed at the learning workstations.


All online services are available without restrictions. We recommend that all members and students of the university primarily use our wide range of e-books, e-journals and databases.

In the departmental library, you will find specialist literature on clinical medicine. The entire departmental library collection can be searched via the catalogue.

The shelf marks of these items start with "350/".

Against the background of the spread of the coronavirus, the University Library of Würzburg has implemented the specification of the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and Art. This measure is intended to protect users and staff and to slow down the spread of the coronavirus. We ask for your understanding for these measures in view of the current exceptional situation.

Workstations in the Department Library can be reserved

Please note: It is NOT possible to visit the library without a reservation.

The reservation possibilities:
You can reserve a learning workstation in the Department Library ZOM | ZIM for the time windows 9 - 13 o'clock and 14 - 18 o'clock. The reservation will be activated on Fridays 9.00 a.m. for all days of the following week. You can only book one shift per day. Use is limited to 1 person per learning workstation. The number of places is limited due to safety regulations during the Corona pandemic.

These places can only be booked by students of the Faculty of Medicine, as only a limited number of people have access to the University Hospital premises due to the Corona Pandemic. The places can only be booked with a stud-mail address of the university (@stud-mail.uni-wuerzburg.de).

In the library it is compulsory to wear a medical face mask (surgical mask is sufficient).

After your reservation your ticket will be sent to the e-mail address you provided. Please bring it with you when you book your appointment, either printed out or on your smartphone, and show it at the entrance together with your certificate of student registration.

Please cancel places you do not need via the booking center (link in the confirmation mail) so that others can book the place.

Textbooks are available in the Main Library. Many books are also available as e-book versions via our catalogue.

The departmental library is a reference library, which means that items can usually only be used on site

You will find a large collection of study-relevant literature available for loan in the Hubland Main Library.

Access to specialist databases for literature searches , internet access (via university network, not available to external users or students of the University of Applied Sciences), Wi-Fi, printing via Information Technology Centre account


Lockers are available in the corridor (1 Euro deposit). Please remember to empty your locker in the evening.
