Main Library and Branch Libraries with RFID
You may bring your jackets and bags, your work materials, your notebook and your smartphone (set to silent) into our reading rooms. Non-alcoholic beverages in sealable containers are also permitted . You are not allowed to take open drink containers and food into the reading room area.
Special Collections Reading Room
You must leave your jackets and bags (including laptop bags) in the cloakroom on the ground floor. Drinks (including water) are not permitted in our Speical Collections Reading Room.
Branch Libraries without RFID
You may only use transparent bags to transport your work materials to the reading rooms of these Departmental Libraries.
Electronic Day Lockers (Central Library)
Some of the day lockers at the Central Library at Hubland can now be used with your UB library card.
The modernized electronic lockers offer a convenient and secure way to store bags and personal belongings during your library visit — no key or coin deposit required.
The lockers are located past the entrance on the Mensa side, at the back right along the wall next to the book return.
Use is possible immediately after a one-time activation of your library card at the terminal. A detailed step-by-step guide can be found here: Instructions for Electronic Lockers (PDF, 137 KB)
Operating instructions are also posted directly at the terminal and on the wall near the lockers.
Day Lockers (Classic)
In addition to the electronic lockers, classic day lockers are also available in the Central Library. These are likewise located past the "Mensa" entrance on the right-hand side.
A 1 or 2 euro coin is required to use the lockers in the Central Library.
In the branch libraries, day lockers with padlocks or coin deposit are available. Padlocks can be purchased at the Central Library.
Long-Term Lockers
Long-term lockers are available to students of the University of Würzburg at the Central Library and selected branch libraries, bookable in 3-month periods:
Departmental Library for English, Germanic and Romance Language & Literatures (TB AGR)
Departmental Library for Cultural, Historical and Earth Sciences (TB KGG)
Wittelsbacherplatz Departmental Library

Drinks and snacks are available from the vending machines in the University Library cafeteria on the 1st floor of the Main Library. You may also bring your own food and drink.
Use our red break discs to reserve your study desk in the reading room during your break. These are available in the library.
If you want to study in peace and quiet, earplugs can be purchased from the vending machine in the Main Library lobby, the Wittelsbacherplatz Departmental Library and the Departmental Library for Law.
Do not disturb the others with your language lessons or videos: please bring your own headphones.
You will find a changing table in the accessible toilet on the ground floor of the Main Library. Please ask for the key at the information.
Use the parent and child room in the Wittelsbacherplatz Departmental Library.
