Library card

Your student ID card is also your library card.

... at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt

We will be happy to activate your student ID card for use as a library card. Please visit the information in the Main Library  with a valid personal ID or passport.

... at other universities

You can request a library card for a €7 deposit from using our online form for people in the city and region.

Go to User-Portal to activate your JMU Card for use as a library card.

As an academic, you automatically receive special lending conditions.

Lecturers without a JMU Card can also apply for these special lending conditions.

As an academic, you can request special lending conditions.

We issue a library card for university employees to other employees of the University Hospital. Please come to the information of the Main Library and bring your valid identity card and your valid proof of employment.

If you are resident in Germany, you can request a library card for a 7 € deposit via our online form for people in the city and region.

If you are visiting the University for a short time (a few weeks), we recommend that you use the group account for the Chair that invited you.

If you are staying for longer, for example for the whole semester, you can request a card with special lending conditions via the Chair.

You must be at least 14 years old and have a permanent residence in Germany to request a library card. Additional conditions apply for minors.

You want to borrow media or use our computer workstations? We will gladly issue you a library card. There is a one-off deposit of € 7 for this.

Collecting your card

We will notify you by email when you can collect your card. Please come in person to the Information Desk of the Main Library. You can pay the deposit of 7.00 € either in cash or with your debit card (EC card).

Our service hours for collection:

  • for cash payment: Mon-Thurs 08:30-16:00, Fri 08:30-13:00
  •  for payment by debit card: Mon-Fri 08:30-18:00, Sat 09:00-16:30.

You will receive your library card on presentation of your valid identity card (or passport + current certificate of registration).

Lost cards

 ub-ausleihe@uni-wuerzburg.de). If required, we will provide you with a replacement card (exchange fee: 10 €, deposit for the new ID card: 7 €).

Card no longer needed?

If you no longer wish to use our services, you can return your library card to us (Mon-Thu 9:00-16:00, Fri 9:00-13:00). If it is undamaged, you will receive your deposit back. Please note that we can only pay out the deposit amount to yourself or an authorized person.

Please note: Only the Studierendenwerk Würzburg can pay out any remaining money on your card. This is only possible before you return the card to us.

Address up to date?

If you move house, please let us know your new address.

If you need to change your e-mail address, go to "User details" in your library account.

Account & user data

Your user account shows all the items you currently have on loan (with the loan period) and your requests and reservations.

You can enter your e-mail address under "User details". This will enable us to send reminders when your loans come to an end and notify you when items become available.
