Due to the 14th Bavarian Infection Protection Measures Ordinance, the conditions of use at University Library of Würzburg will change.
From 2 September 2021 the following applies:
Access to the University Library is only possible for fully vaccinated, recovered or negatively tested persons with a 7-day incidence above 35. Please show appropriate proof at the entrance without being asked and also identify yourself.
The result of a PCR test (max. 48 hours old) or PoC antigen test (max. 24 hours old) and alternatively your valid pupil ID can be presented as negative test evidence.
In the University Library of Würzburg, the obligation to wear a medical face mask (surgical mask is sufficient) still applies. This may be removed at the learning workstations.
All online services are available without restrictions. We recommend that all members and students of the university primarily use our wide range of e-books, e-journals and databases.
In this departmental library, you will find specialist literature on chemistry and pharmacy. The entire departmental library collection can be searched via the catalogue.
The shelf marks of these items start with "600/".
Against the background of the spread of the coronavirus, the University Library of Würzburg has implemented the specification of the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and Art. This measure is intended to protect users and staff and to slow down the spread of the coronavirus. We ask for your understanding for these measures in view of the current exceptional situation.
Book lending by advance order - collection only with medical face mask (surgical mask is sufficient)
In order to supply the university with literature, the departmental library will offer a lending service from 22.01.2021 during service hours Mon - Fri 09:00 - 12:00. If required, different collection times can be arranged.
The desired books must be ordered in advance by telephone (31-85369, 31-88365 or via email@example.com).
Books can be returned during service hours or by arrangement, but can also be returned around the clock via the book return flap in the Main Library.
The loan period is usually 14 days.
An medical face mask (surgical mask is sufficient) must be worn when collecting books.
Excluded from book collection and return are persons who show symptoms that indicate a COVID-19 disease such as cough, cold, sore throat, fever (>= 38.0°C), loss of smell and taste.
In the building, the wearing of a mouth-nose covering is compulsory on all traffic routes. Please observe markings and walkways and keep a distance of 1,5 m from other people.
Health protection remains paramount! Please help us with consideration and flexibility so that we can continue to offer these services!
Note for lecturers:
The collection of books ordered by lecturers as well as the return of the books ordered by lecturers will continue to take place via the library. If necessary, via the mailboxes of the chairs.
The departmental library is a reference library, which means that items can usually only be used on site. All lending conditions (weekend and overnight loans) are summarised on a separate page.

The departmental library for chemistry and pharmacy has 4 group study rooms and 6 individual study rooms that can be used without registration. The rooms have no roof and are not locked. They cannot be reserved.
Access to specialist databases for literature searches , internet access, Wi-Fi, multifunctional copiers
Cloakroom / Lockers
If you would like to take your belongings into the departmental library you can use transparent bags. Jackets, bags (including laptop bags) and food may not be taken into the departmental library. Lockers are available to store your belongings. You will need a padlock (shackle thickness 6–7 mm) or 1 Euro deposit to use the lockers. Please remember to empty your locker in the evening.
