Energy-Efficiency Refurbishment of the Philosophy Building

From 2 November 2026, Building 3 of the Philosophy Building will undergo a comprehensive energy-efficiency refurbishment. As the English, German and Romance Studies Branch Library (AGR Branch Library) is located in this section of the building, the library must be vacated for the duration of the works.

Relocation Period: 29 August 2026 – 2 November 2026

During this period, the AGR Branch Library collection will be relocated to an off-site storage facility. Throughout the relocation, urgently required items can only be provided to members of the University of Würzburg and only in justified exceptional circumstances.

Refurbishment Phase from 2 November 2026

Items from the AGR Branch Library collection can be requested via the library catalogue and will be made available at the Central Library for either loan or on-site consultation.

Bound journal volumes will continue to be available for request via the library catalogue and may be consulted at the Central Library.

Current (unbound) journal issues, as well as selected special collections, will be available at the Cultural Studies, History and Geography Branch Library (KGG Branch Library). Please refer to the location information displayed in the library catalogue.

Course Reserve Collections

Throughout the refurbishment, the course reserve collections of both the AGR Branch Library and the Central Library will be housed together in Large Reading Room 1 of the Central Library.
