Physics, Astronomy, Computer Science and Media
Service hours
As part of the Open Library concept, no on-site staff are present at the Branch Library Physics, Astronomy, Computer Science and Media.
You will still receive the full range of services during regular service hours — via chat, by phone, or by email.
This branch library provides subject-specific literature in physics, astronomy, computer science, and media communication. All holdings are fully indexed in the online catalogue. A large selection of study-related materials is also available at the Central Library.
Items from this branch are identifiable by their shelfmark prefix “750/”. Special collections shelved separately include:
- “751/” – Physics education (Didaktik der Physik)
- “710/” – Departmental reference collections in computer science (kept at the respective institutes)
1 August 2025: RFID self-service now available
Similar to the Central Library and other branch libraries, users can now borrow materials independently at the Physics Branch Library using the RFID self-checkout stations
From 1 August 2025: Extended opening hours
In August and September, the library will be open from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, from October onwards from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.
Loan services

Items marked with a red location code (e.g. journals) are not available for loan. A valid library card or student ID for the current semester is required to borrow materials.
