International Open Access Week October 19-25 2020

How do I fund my publication fees? What is DEAL? How does self-archiving, parallel publishing or green open access work? How can I publish on OPUS Würzburg? Where can I obtain publishing support? Why do I need an ORCID iD? What is OPUS? How can I publish at Würzburg University Press?

As part of the International Open Access Week we offer you a variety of information and consulting on different topics around publishing and our services.

  • Online Seminars:
    Publication fees – paths to funding (in German)

    We discuss questions regarding the funding of publications. Our topics are:
     

    - Which kinds of publication fees are there?
    - How can I publish Open Access?
    - What are the regulations and possibilities of funding agencies (DFG, BMBF, EU etc.)?
    - How and when do University members receive funding from the publication fund?
    - How can University members use advantages from memberships and discounts?
    - What needs to be considered regarding the DEAL project?

    How can I publish my thesis? (in German)

    Publishing house, online or copyshop? According to your doctorate regulations there are many different ways to publish your thesis and some obstacles. In this course you learn more about the opportunities and conditions of the different publication forms. Finally, you get more information on how the University Library supports you within the publishing process of your thesis.

    The restrictions during the Corona pandemic showed how important free and permanent access to scholarly publications is. Self-archiving, also called parallel publishing or green open access, is one way to achieve free and permanent access. In this online course we talk about:

    - Which advantages does self-archiving provide?
    - Which terms and conditions should be obeyed? Where can these be found?
    - What should one pay attention to when sending a request for self-archiving to a publisher?
    - Which steps are necessary for self-archiving on OPUS Würzburg?
