Free-of-charge service for Elsevier journals

Contract negotiations with Elsevier have been interrupted: emergency supply service for Elsevier journals

The University of Würzburg currently has no contract with the publishing house Elsevier (Elsevier contract expiration date: 31 December 2016; Cell Press contract expiration date: 31 December 2017).

The University of Würzburg has passed a mandate to conclude a nationwide licensing agreement with the publishing house Elsevier to DEAL, the Alliance of Science Organisations in Germany.
The German Rectors' Conference (Hochschulkonferenz, HRK) has reported that negotiations in connection with the DEAL project had to be interrupted temporarily on 3 July 2018 due to exaggerated demands made by Elsevier. In the negotiations with the publishing house, no general agreement could be reached on the financial framework conditions and the scope of a future DEAL contract.
Elsevier has therefore stopped electronic access to the c u r r e t volumes of journals that had been licensed to the University of Würzburg until the end of 2016. This also affects earlier volumes of journals that were not licensed locally but only within the framework of the Bavarian Consortium. Current volumes of journals from Elsevier’s imprint Cell Press are also no longer available.

The University Library offers the following free-of-charge service to ensure that members of the University of Würzburg (i.e. academics, employees and students) can still access articles from the journals listed above.
