Library card

A library card is required to borrow books or other media and when ordering books from stack. University Würzburg students and students of the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg - Schweinfurt use their student card after registering the card with library system at the loan desk.

Pupils and other external library users may order their library card before their very first visit to the library: they can register as a library user via online-form and collect their library card free of charge at the loan desk. A valid ID or passport is required. 
Please note, library cards ordered via our online form can be collected every day, library cards without online-order only on weekdays (Mo-Fr). To get a library card you must be over 14 years of age and have a permanent address in Germany.

Your user number is printed on your library card. On student cards the user number is the number above the barcode.

Your password matches the day, month and year of your birthday. E.g. birthday on 5 August 1990 = password “050890”. In case you forget your password, please contact the loan desk at the Main Library or request a new password online by following the Link "Forgot your password" on the Login-screen of the Catalogue. For security reasons and to avoid abuse, please change your password regularly via "Konto / Benutzerdaten" in the Catalogue.

If your library card is lost or stolen, please contact the library immediately, so that your account can be barred from further checkouts to protect both yourself and the library from unauthorized use.
